A Sanctuary for Wholeness, Joy, and Rest
Healing Spaces is the dedicated wellness and mental health arm of Black Girl Assembly. Rooted in culture, creativity, and community, it offers trauma-informed, joy-centered programming that supports emotional wellbeing, self-expression, and rest. At its core, Healing Spaces operates from one belief: healing is not a luxury. It is a birthright.
Healing Spaces™ meets young people where they are — in schools, community centers, and online — with programming that treats rest, joy, and emotional wellbeing as essentials, not extras. Every offering is trauma-informed, culturally rooted, and built alongside community clinicians of color.
Healing is not a luxury. It is a birthright. Every Healing Spaces offering operates on a sliding scale, and no one is ever turned away for inability to pay.

Schools, community centers, and partners: tell us a little about your site and which offerings interest you, and a real person from Black Girl Assembly will get back to you.
No. Healing Spaces is trauma-informed, joy-centered wellness programming — not a clinical mental health service. Our curriculum is developed with Boston Medical Center and community clinicians of color, but participation is not a substitute for therapy, and we encourage young people to have their own therapeutic support.
Black girls, femmes, and gender-expansive youth of color ages 12 and up. Each workshop or event delineates the appropriate ages for attending. Some offerings are open pop-ups; others are enrollment-based series.
Sliding scale: $0–$75 per series, and $0–$25 for pop-ups. Financial aid, payment plans, and fully sponsored seats are always available. No one is turned away for inability to pay.
Both virtual and in-person. Black Girl Rest Rooms pop up at schools, community centers, and YMCA Teen Nights; other offerings run online or at BGA spaces.
Year-round and ongoing — from 1–3 hour pop-ups to 4–8 week curricula. Join a single pop-up or enroll in a full series.
